Manage Your Account

You can log into Empower's site or contact customer service to review your account, update beneficiary information, change contributions, or get help with 401k enrollment questions.


Auto Enrollment

Automatic Enrollment

All eligible employees are automatically enrolled in the plan.

Eligibility

Employees age 18+ are eligible, excluding leased employees, temp workers, independent contractors, non-resident aliens, and employees under collective bargaining agreements unless otherwise stated.

Contribute 0%–50% of your pay

Roth Contributions

After-tax Roth salary deferrals available

2026 IRS Limit

$24,500 max employee elective deferrals

Employer Match

MLF matches a portion of your pre-tax and after-tax contributions

Catch-Up Contributions

Age 50+ may make additional catch-up contributions. For individuals aged 50 and older, standard catch-up contributions are $8,000

Vesting

100% vested immediately in pre-tax, Roth, and Safe Harbor Match contributions

Loans

One loan at a time

Borrow up to 1 loan at a time.

Loan rules

The IRS guideline is the lesser of 50% of vested account balance, or $50,000 minus your highest outstanding loan balance in the last 12 months. Please see Summary Plan Description for additional rules or contact Empower Customer Service. 

Repayment

Up to 5 years, or 10 years for a primary residence, repaid through payroll deduction.

Interest rate

Prime rate + 1%

Beneficiary Information

Update Anytime

Designate or update your beneficiary at any time through your Empower account online or via the app.

Keep It Current

Review your beneficiary information after major life events like marriage, divorce, or the birth of a child.

Want to Decline Enrollment?

If you do not want to participate in the 401(k) plan, you can decline enrollment through Empower. Review your auto-enrollment notice for instructions and timing.

If you do not take action, you will be enrolled according to the plan's rules. You can also use Empower to review your account, change contributions, or get help with 401(k) enrollment questions.

Paper beneficiary forms are no longer accepted for 401(k) beneficiary information. Beneficiaries for the 401(k) should be entered and updated through Empower.

How to update 401(k) beneficiaries

  1. Log in to the Empower participant website or app.
  1. Find the “I want to…” menu.
  1. Choose “View/edit beneficiary information.”
  1. Add or edit beneficiary information.
  1. Be prepared to enter the beneficiary’s address, relationship, and Social Security number.

College Savings Program


The 529 CollegeChoice Direct Savings Plan is designed to help individuals and families save for college in a tax-advantaged way.

Important reminders

  • The 529 account is separate from the 401(k).
  • Investment options and tax treatment depend on the 529 program rules.
  • Employees should review plan materials before opening an account.
  • Contact the Benefits Team or Benefit Resource Center for more information about setting up an account.

A 529 plan can help families save for future education expenses. Money in the account may be used for qualified education expenses, subject to plan and tax rules.
